To the editor:
I carefully read all the information on each of the candidates running for office in the town of Clay in the Oct. 12 edition of the Star-Review.
The incumbents stated what they had done and what they wished to do in the future.
The new candidates running for office used the common buzzwords “wanting transparency” and “giving residents an opportunity to voice their opinions.”
Only two, Ryan Pleskach and Brian Hall, told of being involved in the town of Clay business in other areas. The others just criticized the present board process.
I frequently attend the town board meetings and find them informative about what is happening in the town, and if you read the board minutes and agenda, it is easy to follow what is being discussed. I also have observed many people openly asking questions and asking for solutions to problems at these meetings. No one is shut down unless they become hostile and obnoxious.
Another observation I noted was I do not believe I have ever seen the new candidates attend the board meetings in the past. How can you run for a position without having some knowledge and experience about how the present board operates?
I personally would rather have a candidate that has a genuine interest in the town by volunteering or being on different committees than one who just comes in and criticizes the present administration.
I’m not a politician and never will be but have to voice my opinion and observations.
