The town of Van Buren is accepting bids for insulation work at what will become the town’s new highway garage, the town board announced at its July 5 meeting. Bids for insulation work at the former Headrush Paintball facility, located at 3417 Walters Road, are due by 10 a.m. July 29.
“It’s literally shot,” town engineer Jason Hoy said of the building’s insulation. “Paintballs have punctured it.”
Hoy said the town is sending materials out to bid, then labor. Councilor Ron Dudzinski said progress on the new highway garage will begin to pick up.
“When all these bids start rolling in, that’s when we’re going to start seeing some action,” he said.
Maxwell returns part-time
The town board also re-approved comptroller Greg Maxwell’s part-time agreement. Maxwell officially retired in June as comptroller of Salina and Van Buren but has agreed to stay on part-time in Van Buren.
Maxwell will work two days per week in Van Buren for $1,310 per month.
“[We’re] glad to have him still,” Deputy Supervisor Pat Dickman said.
