BALDWINSVILLE — One person was killed and two people were injured in an altercation between neighbors in the village of Baldwinsville on Feb. 22, according to New York State Police.
The Baldwinsville Police Department responded to a report of a shooting around 12:01 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at 2861 Cold Springs Road. The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, NYSP, the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps and WAVES Ambulance also responded to the scene.
“The preliminary investigation has determined that a male and female who live in the second-floor apartment were in a physical altercation with a father and son who live on the first floor. During the altercation, the female was struck in the face with a shovel and both father and son were struck by gunfire,” read a statement from NYSP.
William J. Kratz, 44, who lives on the second floor, was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, a class “C” felony. Kratz is charged with possession of an illegal “ghost” handgun, or an unregulated firearm that lacks a serial number.
First responders transported the wounded to Upstate University Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
William R. Delany, 44, was pronounced dead at Upstate.
A 27-year old male was also transported to Upstate and was listed in serious condition. A 36-year-old female who lives in the second-floor apartment was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for facial injuries, where she was treated and released.
The Baldwinsville Police Department requested that the state police take over the investigation, which is ongoing.
