The Dewitt Police are attempting to identify suspects who stole a wallet from a female’s purse at Wegmans on East Genesee Street in DeWitt and then used the victim’s credit cards to purchase over $10,000 in electronics.
On May 18, 2019 at approximately 3:50 p.m. the pictured male walked next to the victim’s cart, where her purse was located, and removed the woman’s wallet while she was selecting items in the Wegmans produce section. The male left the area in a dark-colored sedan.
Approximately 40 minutes later, the victim’s credit cards were used at Destiny Mall at the Apple Store and at Best Buy.
After reviewing the camera footage, it was discovered that the pictured female had used the victim’s card at the stores and purchased almost $10,000 worth of electronics.
The white female was thin with dark hair (which was pulled back into a bun), wearing a dark jacket, jeans and dark sneakers. She was accompanied by a heavy-set, white female that was wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and a white colored scarf.
The two females attempted to not make it obvious that they were together but were observed on camera meeting up periodically to converse.
The DeWitt Police Department is asking for assistance identifying the suspects.
