State police have arrested a DeRuyter woman on multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child in relation to an incident that occurred at DeRuyter High School this week.
Police arrested Samantha M. Murphy, 38, from DeRuyter, for five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Murphy is charged with engaging in sexually explicit and graphic conversations with several students while acting as a substitute teacher for a broadcast media class at the DeRuyter High School on Monday, January 22.
Murphy was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the town of DeRuyter Court on Monday, February 5.
School officials contacted state police immediately after being notified by students of the incident and have been fully cooperative with the investigation.
