After a nearly three week investigation, Madison County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested Charles W. Pentland, 44, of Canastota, and charged him with criminal sexual act in the first degree (B felony), sexual abuse in the first degree (D felony), endangering the welfare of a child (A misdemeanor), sexual misconduct (A misdemeanor) and forcible touching (A misdemeanor).
It is alleged that Pentland subjected a child less than 11 years of age to sexual contact.
Pentland was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant. Pentland was arraigned before the Village of Canastota Court and remanded to the Madison County Jail on $15,000 cash bail/$25,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to answer to the charges at a later date.
Sheriff’s Investigators were assisted by members from the Madison County Child Protective Services and the Madison County Child Advocacy Center.
