Cazenovia police, working in conjunction with the NYPD, have arrested the man suspected of stabbing two people in Cazenovia this past February.

Donald Linderfils, aka “Prince,” 19, of Brooklyn, was arrested in New York City on Friday, June 3, by Cazenovia police officers, and charged with two counts of assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Linderfils was processed at the Cazenovia Police station by the arresting officers Tom Engelmann and Andy Lukowski, and then taken to the Madison County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Madison County Court on Monday morning, said Cazenovia Police chief Michael Hayes.

Linderfilswas  arrested without incident, said Engelmann.

“This was a great job by my officers in locating [the suspect], especially since we started with two uncooperative victims and nothing but a nickname,” Hayes said.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 7, when two Cazenovia College students received multiple stab wounds in Jailhouse Alley. They were treated at area hospitals and released.

Police investigations revealed the suspect, who was not named until the release of the grand jury indictment, was visiting people in Cazenovia and did not live in the town, the county or any adjoining counties, Hayes said. The suspect was not arrested at the time because the district attorney was preparing for a grand jury presentation to seek an indictment on the case, Hayes said.

Linderfils was indicted by a Madison County grand jury on these charges on April 28 and a warrant for his arrest issued the same day.
