A Madison County grand jury has handed down an indictment against the suspect in the Feb. 7 stabbing incident that occurred in Jailhouse Alley in the village, and an arrest warrant has been issued, according to Cazenovia police.
Donald Linderfils, aka “Prince,” 19, of Brooklyn, was indicted on two counts of assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor, on April 28. An arrest warrant was issued for Linderfils the same day, said Cazenovia Police Chief Michael Hayes.
“Now we’ll get together with the NYPD and the Marshall Office to locate [Linderfils] and get him into custody,” Hayes said. “It will be difficult, but we’ll find him and bring him back to Caz.”
The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 7, when two Cazenovia College students received multiple stab wounds in the alley. They were treated at area hospitals and released.
Police investigations revealed the suspect, who was not named until the release of the grand jury indictment, was visiting people in Cazenovia and does not live in the town, the county or any adjoining counties, Hayes said. The suspect was not arrested at the time because the district attorney was preparing for a grand jury presentation to seek an indictment on the case, Hayes said.
