BALDWINSVILLE — The Baldwinsville Farmers Market returns next week with a new organizer: Don Beaudry, owner of the Cluck n Burger Food Truck and executive director of Hungers for Hope.
Cluck n Burger had long participated in the farmers market when it was run by Baldwinsville Festravaganza organizers Mike and Michelle Samoraj. When the new organizer who took over in 2021 pulled out mid-season, Beaudry brainstormed with his fellow vendors to pick up the pieces. Emmi Farms stepped in to provide insurance for the event.
This year, Beaudry is hoping to give the B’ville Farmers Market a strong foundation to build upon for the future.
“Let’s bring the farmers market back in full force and let’s give B’ville somewhere to go on Tuesdays,” he said.
Each Tuesday from June 14 through September (weather permitting), Beaudry plans to bring five to seven produce vendors and 25 to 30 artisans and crafters to Baldwin Canal Square.
“The amount of people that have reached out to us to be vendors is insane,” Beaudry said.
Village leaders have been supportive too, Beaudry said. He added that he will be meeting with the Baldwinsville Department of Public Works to discuss parking, which some Baldwin Canal Square businesses have raised as an issue with past farmers markets.
On that note, Beaudry is hoping to forge relationships with village businesses. He said the market could generate foot traffic for area shops and restaurants.
“Once you walk the farmers market, then you go in and get a milkshake at B’ville Diner, you get tacos at Lil Twisted, an adult beverage at WT Brews,” he mused. “When you’re downtown, it’s not just about grabbing your stuff and going. … There’s so much you can do in the village of Baldwinsville.”
In addition, Beaudry wants the market to be a showcase for area nonprofits. His own organization, Hungers for Hope, helps revitalize VFW and American Legion halls so profits can benefit veterans.
The Baldwinsville Farmers Market takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays starting June 14 at Baldwin Canal Square (behind the B’ville Diner).
