LIVERPOOL — Fifty-year-old Drew D’Angelo is the new owner of Mazzye’s Meats, at 7252 Oswego Road, just north of the village of Liverpool.
For most of the past two decades, D’Angelo oversaw campus-wide food service as Le Moyne College’s executive chef.
D’Angelo participated in a ribbon-cutting hosted by the Greater Liverpool Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday morning, March 23, at Mazzye’s 2,200-square-foot brick building on Route 57.
When he closed his deal with the Mazzye family on Jan. 29, D’Angelo resigned from Le Moyne and started his job Mazzye’s Meats as owner that very day.
Brothers Frank and Dave Mazzye — the longtime owners — are helping D’Angelo get a feel for the place and plan to continue working there a few hours each week for awhile.
Originally constructed in 1970 as a Dairy Queen, Mazzye’s Meats has done business at Route 57 for 42 years after a successful run at the Galeville Grocery on Old Liverpool Road.
