Big changes have been made to the building at 6901 E. Genesee St. in Fayetteville. A new Verizon Retailer and Cellular Sales has opened on that site and will celebrate the grand opening of the store the weekend starting Sept. 22.
Construction on the building and demolition of one building on the site, which previously housed Syracuse Yacht Sales and DeWitt Sports, began for the new Verizon store in June 2017. A representative from the company said this location was chosen to replace an existing location due to the visibility of the site.
“Cellular sales moved an existing location in Fayetteville to this location because of the volume of traffic at Lyndon Corners. We are very pleased with this new location for our store,” said Katie Junjohann, a regional director for cellular sales for Verizon. “This new Verizon retail location will bring a high-end retailer to the neighborhood, as well as new jobs. And cellular sales prides itself on being a good neighbor and giving to the communities in which we work and live.”
The new location will employ 15 people, Junjohann said, and will offer all of the same products and services you would find at other Verizon stores.
The store officially opened on Aug. 29, and will celebrate a grand opening the weekend of Sept. 22, 23 and 24. For this weekend, all activation fees will be waived, and a food truck will be on site from noon to 4 p.m. each day. From noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, local performer Jason the Entertainer will be at the store to entertain patrons.
