Provides clients counseling for start-ups and small businesses at no cost
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC), based out of Onondaga Community College, will now provide services from a satellite office at Cazenovia College. Melissa Zomro Davis, a New York State Certified Business Advisor, will staff the office located at 1 Liberty St. by appointment.
A graduate of the College, Davis successfully owned, operated and sold a tack shop that was located in the village of Cazenovia. While running the tack shop she obtained a P&C license to become an equine insurance agent. With these experiences and others, she is especially suited to provide counseling services for start-up and existing small businesses through a wide range of networks in Western Madison County at no cost to the client.

SBDC at Onondaga Community College is part of the New York State Small Business Development Center, administered by the State University of New York. It is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBDC provides one-on-one, client-directed business counseling at no charge.
Services range from one-time inquiries to satisfy an immediate need to projects that span several years as a business grows and faces new demands. Advice is provided with regard to business plan development, market research support, loan packaging, legal entity selection, regulatory and licensing issues, financial analysis, and networking with other business resources. In addition, SBDC’s research network provides clients with market research, industry data, sector profiles and a range of related data.
The SBDC provides services to the Central New York region of Onondaga, Southern Oswego, Cayuga, Seneca, as well as Western Madison and Cortland counties. In addition to the main offices at Onondaga Community College (Mulroy Hall, not on the main campus), the SBDC staffs part-time outreach centers.
