Although the new CVS located at 312 Fayette Street in the village of Manlius was not set to open until 2017, a mild weather has been attributed to the reason it opened on Sept. 4 this year.
“It’s great, we’ve had a lot of people to come and just check it out in here,” said Steve Crough, store manager. “We have a lot more space and are able to greatly expand on the products we have for customers.”
Construction on this 13,225 square foot stand-alone CVS started in the fall of 2015, and it was scheduled to open in late 2016 or early 2017. Three buildings had to be demolished to make room for the new freestanding building, including the building of the former Temple’s Dairy that held the Manlius Bottle and Return that burned in July 2012, the factory buildings of Hollowick Inc. and a rental property on Elmbrook Drive. Crough said he believed a quick construction was made possible due to the mild winter last year.
It was built to replace the previous Manlius CVS store located at 119 E. Seneca St., which had been in that location since 1998. The new store allows for the expansion of all of their departments, Crough said, and there is a notably larger grocery and frozen foods section. The new store is also up-to-date with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance regulations, and a wider range of health products are able to be offered.
The new CVS also features drive thru pharmacy window service. “It’s something really convenient for people with young children old older adults to be able to get their prescriptions quickly,” said Crough.
