Have you noticed new signage while traveling past the former Track & Racquet Club building on 6800 E. Genesee St. in Fayetteville across from Wegmans? Recently, new tenants have moved into the building to revitalize it and promote healthy living in the eastern suburbs of Syracuse.
While Medical Weight Loss of New York has been located in the building for the past four years, three new tenants, Metro Fitness East, Onondaga Physical Therapy and Revitalize! CNY, have opened shop to provide a wider array of health and wellness needs to the area.
“I like to think it’s a one-stop shop for health needs in the area,” said Bryan Wendel, practice management at Medical Weight Loss of New York. All four businesses moved to the locations through connections that have been made over time, so the idea to bring them all to one building was intentional, said Wendel.
Wendel said that people can come to the building to maintain a healthy weight, exercise to stay healthy, get physical therapy in the event of an injury or set up an appointment for their dermatology and cosmetic needs.
Medical Weight Loss of New York is the practice of Dr. Wendy Scinta, one of the country’s leading experts in weight loss and obesity. The practice offers individualized and data-driven plans toward weight loss for patients of all ages from a four pronged approach: medical support and supervision; meal replacement; lifestyle changes; and maintaining weight loss.
Scinta has written a book, “Bounce,” which is aimed at families of children who are looking to lose weight through a series of lifestyle changes. Before becoming a board certified bariatric physician, Scinta worked as both an engineer and a family practitioner. “I just felt my interests and talents could be used in a way that could inspire other people to change their lives for the better,” said Scinta.
The practice also offers group educational meetings and hormone replacement therapy, and plans to make some renovations in the future. Scinta said the practice currently is out-of-network, which means they do not work with medical insurance companies, but will provide paperwork for patients to submit to their insurance carriers.
