CAZENOVIA — Throughout the school year, the Cazenovia Lions Club recognizes outstanding local 8th to 12th graders through its Student of the Month (SOTM) program.
Each month from September through May, one or more students are selected based on their academic performance for the nomination period, contributions to the local community, extracurricular activities, and demonstrated leadership qualities.
All Cazenovia junior and senior high school students enrolled in public school, private school, or home-schooling programs are eligible for this recognition.
Students may be nominated by school administrators, teachers, or staff members, or by Cazenovia community residents.
A standard nomination form and a due dates schedule are available on the Cazenovia Lions Club Facebook page @Cazenovia Lions Club or by contacting Cazenovia Lions Club First Vice President Marjie Tormey at [email protected] or (315) 727-5058.
Nomination packages must be endorsed by an administrator in the school or signed by the parent or guardian for home-schooled candidates.
Nomination forms should be submitted to Tormey at [email protected].
The Cazenovia Lions Club president, first vice president, and second vice president will review nomination packages, select the SOTM, and notify the submitting representative of the chosen student no later than the last day of the month following the month the student has been nominated.
The Cazenovia Lions Club will work with the nominating organization or parent to schedule an award presentation, which parents or guardians will be invited to attend.
Awardees, whose names will be kept secret until the presentation, will receive an engraved plaque and have their picture, name, and nomination narrative sent to the Cazenovia Republican. They will also be invited to an end-of-year banquet.
Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.4 million members in approximately 46,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.
