CICERO — The Silver Award is the highest award a cadet Girl Scout can earn and is a prerequisite to the Gold Award.
Cicero Girl Scout Troop 10124 worked to earn their Silver Award by building a kayak rack and raising funds to purchase two kayaks to benefit the Cicero community.
The four girls worked with Andy Phillips, co-owner for Greer and Phillips LLC, to construct a kayak rack which will be placed at Joseph F William Park along with two kayaks that will be available to rent at the park in the summer of 2023.
When choosing their award, the girls were passionate about improving and encouraging better mental health in our community. As Girl Scouts, they understood the benefits of getting outdoors, exercising and the natural beauty of Oneida Lake. Kayaking met the criteria, so the girls got busy constructing the rack and collecting cans and bottles to purchase the kayaks.
The girls from Troop 10124 earning the Silver Award are: Kaiya Palmiter, Riley Meyer, Julia Phillips and Savannah Foil.
