CNY Land Trust announces second annual EverGreen EverBlue BBQ fundraiser

The Central New York Land Trust announced  that it will highlight its newest property, located at 2989 Bacher Rd., Skaneateles, NY, at its second annual EverGreen EverBlue BBQ fundraiser on Friday, September 9, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Steven Kulick, Board Treasurer and Fundraising Committee Chair, stated, “The Bacher Road property, one of 51 preserves managed by the Land Trust, was selected for this event to highlight some of the water resource protection work we will undertake at this site and to underscore the need , more generally, for sound land management practices.” He continued, “In particular, we will be concentrating on controlling the further erosion of a damaged esker only yards away from the site of the fundraiser.” He concluded by noting, “In addition to erosion control, we will work to minimize and, in some cases, reverse other threats to the Skaneateles Lake watershed in this area through best land management practices.”

The Central New York Land Trust, formerly known as Save the County, was incorporated in 1973, but has been saving land since 1972, when it held its first Walk to Save the County to buy land for Baltimore Woods. The September fundraising event advances the Land Trust’s mission “to preserve and protect natural areas in order to provide our communities clean water, clean air, wildlife habitat, and a chance to connect with the land.”

This year’s EverGreen EverBlue theme will be country fun, with proceeds going to further the Land Trust’s mission, including its water resource protection work in the Skaneateles Lake watershed and elsewhere in Central New York. Food will be provided by Dinosaur-Bar-B-Que and dessert by Skippy’s Ice Cream Truck. Skaneateles Brewery will serve beer on tap as well as wine donated by Anyela’s. A silent auction will also be held with opportunities to bid on several items. Music will be provided by 2022 SAMMY Hall of Fame Inductee Los Blancos, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Tickets are $250 each. The Land Trust recommends ordering tickets by August 31 as space is limited. Sponsorship opportunities for businesses are also available. For tickets, sponsorship information, and more, visit www.cnylandtrust.org.
