SKANEATELES — Doce Lume Farm in Skaneateles is joining with October Rose Farm and other CSA farmers across the country to celebrate CSA Week, a national event taking place from Feb. 20 through Feb. 26 to promote Community Supported Agriculture.
CSA is a farm membership system that allows consumers to sign up to receive fresh local veggies, eggs, meat, and more, every week for an entire season. This year, Doce Lume Farm, owned by Janice Wiles, is offering the chance to win $100 worth of native perennial flowering plants to customers who sign up during CSA Week.
Being a CSA member is a way to enhance local food security by supporting local farmers who are expanding the CNY food system to include a wider variety of locally grown and produced veggies, fruits, meats, eggs and processed foods.
This is a good time to connect with fresh local food while helping to the local food systems and communities more resilient.
This year the Doce Lume team has expanded the gardens to include more crop and herb varieties in larger quantities, and have added options for flowers, delivery and October Rose Farm eggs. October Rose is owned by Brian and Susan Underwood.
Anyone who is interested in CSA Week and supporting Doce Lume Farm and October Rose Farm can also enter to win native plants for their landscape by going to docelumefarm.com and SHOP.
There are lots of options to fit a variety of needs and make the summer even more fun.
Call or text 240-626-5209 with questions.
Sign up between Feb. 20 and 26 to enter the raffle.
Those interested can also join the online conversation with #CSAWeek.
