The Onondaga County Health Dept. issued a BOIL WATER ORDER for some areas – RESIDENCES AND BUSINESSES – in the Town of DeWitt on Friday, September 18th. The areas of concern are fed water from the City of Syracuse.
As of Wednesday, September 23, 2020 work to remediate the water issue is nearing completion; three chlorine injection systems have been installed at three locations; these will ensure recommended levels of chlorine are injected into the town system to prevent the growth of bacteria.
Onondaga County will now begin re-testing the water; the town expects test results in the next two days and possible resumption of water services sometime on Friday, September 25th.
The unusual confluence of warmer summer weather and stagnant water – due to low use/low occupancy as a result of the COVID-19 virus – in town office buildings was the source of the water problem, please see the town’s website for detailed information.
