On Saturday, May 9, a United Church of Fayetteville entourage of nineteen households in cars paraded 36.5 miles for two hours visiting those families who are “normally” homebound.
It all started at 11 a.m. with a parking lot fellowship from a distance of masked friends reuniting, sharing laughter and showing off their homemade signs. Traveling in a car caravan, planned and lead by a UCF member-volunteer fireman, it snaked along at times in sun and snow-showers.
From the 13 households visited incalculable smiles, waves, joy and connections were seen and felt as there was much waving, shouting and even a cow-bell and horns sounding out.
United Church is located at 310 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville, 13066, and Sunday services are live-streamed by going to theucf.org and are available throughout the week.
