In and email Monday morning, the Haven at Skanda announced it will be offering a small weekday program for elementary school children.
“Skanda is dedicated to supporting the community and responding to community needs whenever we are able,” the release said. “We have had inquiries from parents who are not able to stay home with their children, now that schools are closed and closing soon.”
In order to support families who need help, Skanda will open a very small, limited space weekday program for elementary school-aged children who cannot stay home alone.
Kids will receive academic support and tutoring at Skanda, and will spend time taking care of the animals and gardening.
Strict CDC biosecurity protocols will be in place according to the email.
“For some families, spending time with the animals and in the fresh air and gardens of Skanda may be a good option, while parents are still required to go in to work,” the release said. “Please contact us if this is a service you will need. We anticipate starting as early as this Wednesday.”
