The 49th annual Boypower Dinner was held on May 3 at the OnCenter in Syracuse, bringing more than 1,000 Boy Scouts and supporters to raise more than $300,000 for the Boy Scouts of America Longhouse Council. Hundreds of items were donated and auctioned in a silent auction, which help raise more than $300,000 for the Longhouse Council.
The 2017 Boypower Dinner honored Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick as the Distinguished Citizen, and Dr. David Rogers, president of Morrisville State College, was the Boypower Chairman. Sportscaster Greg Gumbel was the speaker for this year’s event.
The Longhouse Council represents more than 4,000 scouts in the counties of Cayuga, Jefferson, Lewis, Onondaga, Oswego and St. Lawrence. Through the Boypower event, 26 percent of their operational budget is raised.
