The new electric car charging station has been installed in Lakeland Park in the village, and have already had their first customer.
The station, approved by the village board of trustees last month, was installed Tuesday in front of two parking spaces at the upper portion of the Lakeland parking lot, near the bath house. There are two Bosch Level 2 chargers. No fee will be charged to use the chargers, instead, some sort of sign or box will be erected to ask for donations.
Mayor Kurt Wheeler said the idea to install the chargers was to support sustainable energy uses in the village — it is one of four green energy action items the village is currently undertaking that will also make Cazenovia eligible for state grant money — as well as a nice boost to local tourist appeal.
Empire Farmstead Brewery is currently the only other place in Cazenovia to offer car charging stations for electric vehicles.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s map of electric charging stations, other electric car charging stations relatively near Cazenovia are in Morrisville and Fayetteville.
