The DeWitt Police Department has reported the death of a driver following a head-on vehicle crash that occurred the morning of July 19 at about 7:40 a.m. on Thompson Road near the intersection of Alden Avenue.
Officers said a vehicle going north on Thompson Road crossed the center line, striking a vehicle coming from the opposite direction head-on. Both drivers had to be extricated by the DeWitt Fire Department.
The northbound driver was taken to University Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, police report, and the southbound vehicle’s driver was taken to Crouse Hospital where he was treated for cuts and minor injuries.
The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family. The DeWitt/Manlius Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the crash.
