The following activities are being offered at the Camillus Senior Center 25 ½ First St. Camillus.

 

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope is an annual concert featuring all of the finest musicians and dancers from West Genesee High School. The concert is held at the Civic Center on  Thursday, May 26. The school bus leaves the Camillus Senior Center at 6:45 p.m. and returns at approx. 10 p.m. $10 per person – must be 55 or older.

 

Father’s Day Luncheon

A special menu and a tribute to the dads! Friday, June 19 at noon. Seniors age 60+ and their spouses of any age are eligible. Suggested contribution is only $2.75,  Guests under 60 are welcome for $5. Call the Senior Center at 672-5820 to make a reservation.

 

AARP Smart Driver Course

Learn defensive driving techniques to keep you safe on the road and receive a reduction on your car insurance. Wednesday, June 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

You must be here for the entire class. $20 for AARP members, $25 for non-members.

Make checks payable to AARP (separate check for each person).

You may bring a lunch or order lunch at the center. Participants should bring their unexpired driver’s license and AARP membership card if applicable.  Class size is limited to early registration is recommended. Payment must accompany registration form.

 

Day Trip

Come join the Camillus Seniors for a “Boat Cruise in Cooperstown.”

The trip to Cooperstown, NY includes a morning stop at the Farmer’s Museum, and a lunch buffet at the Otesaga Resort Hotel and a narrated cruise on beautiful Lake Otsego.

There will be an Ice cream stop on the way home (on your own). There is walking involved with this trip.  Wednesday, July 13 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Cost per person: $72/$80 for non-residents. Call the senior center at 672-5820 for more information.

 

Walking Club

Spring is the perfect time to get outside and get moving!  Mondays and Wednesdays 9 to 10 a.m. Location schedules are available at the senior center. This is a great opportunity to make new friends and walk with a buddy.  Don’t forget to wear your sneakers!

 

Daisy, Daisy, Give Me Your Answers Few

Join us for a lively presentation and slideshow of the Italian mathematician Fibonacci and his famous Fibonacci’s sequence of numbers as it appears in nature.  Monday, June 6 at 2 p.m. The presentation is given by Frank Netti and is held during our monthly meeting.  Free.

 

Bunko Party

Join us for this fun dice game.  A great chance to get out, meet new friends and socialize.  All supplies and refreshments provided. Prizes, fourth Monday of the month – May 23 and June 27, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. $2 cash per person. Call 672-5820 to sign up and consider lunch beforehand.

 

Healthy Eating for Successful Living

This class is for people who want to learn more about how small changes in nutrition and lifestyle can promote better health.  Mondays, June 6 – July 11 (no class 7/4)  9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Instructed by Allison Lawson, dietician for Onondaga County Office of Aging.  Free. Call 672-5820 to register.

 

Drawing and Painting Art Class

Spend the afternoon working at your own place on a project of your choice.  Our art teacher will be here to offer suggestions, assistance and supplies.  Thursday afternoons, June 6 to July 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.  $15 per participant per session – includes paints and brushes to use and canvas.

Third Monday of each month at 2 p.m.  June 20 and July 18.
