On Saturday, April 23, the DeWitt Advisory Conservation Committee (DACC) will host a town-wide cleanup event and is looking for volunteers to help make the town a cleaner place.
“We believe that the town of DeWitt is a wonderful place to live. We want it to become an even more attractive place in which to live, do business and visit. A cleaner community will go a long way towards achieving these goals and that is the point of conducting spring and autumn cleanups,” said Dennis Payne, member of DACC and event organizer.
The cleanup will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on April 23 and have two meeting locations: the DeWitt Town Hall at 5400 Butternut Drive, East Syracuse, and Robbie T’s Pizzeria, North Street, Jamesville. Refreshments will be available at each location for participants.
Volunteers will be provided with trash bags, stickers and safety vests from the meeting locations, but are asked to bring their own gloves and to dress accordingly. Volunteers can clean a location of their choice or will be assigned a location.
Payne said these spring cleanup events have been occurring in the town of DeWitt for more than 25 years and autumn cleanups have been held in Jamesville for at least 15 years, but about three years ago there was an effort to bring these events to a town-wide scale.
Those who wish to help clean but cannot make the April 23 event are encouraged to make other arrangements by contacting Dennis Payne at 469-0565 or [email protected].
