The village of Minoa will be hosting its third annual Minoa Festival in Lewis Park from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 19 with a day full of music, raffles, crafts, food, classic cars, kid activities and fireworks.
“This event is something that helps get all of the pockets of the community together to enjoy the park,” said Bill Brazill, deputy mayor of Minoa. “It’s a great atmosphere that any person in a family can enjoy.”
Performances by local musicians are scheduled for the entire day, and this year’s list of local talents includes Bradshaw Blues, Tom Chick, Genessee Ted, Dan Wagner, Gunrunners, Zero point Sero, I am Fool and Soul Mine.
The Minoa Fire Department will be on hand to sell food and beer, which will benefit the department. There will be plenty of vendors for attendees to visit, as well as a classic car show. Fireworks will finish up the night at dusk.
A kid’s zone with inflatables, magicians, clowns and fire artist performances will occur all throughout the day, said Brazill. Admission to the festival is free.
Prior to the day’s events, Lewis Park will host the finish line to the seventh annual Teal Ribbon 5K Run and 3K Family Fun Walk held by Hope for Heather to raise money for ovarian cancer awareness and research. This is in second year the Minoa Festival will host this race.
Brazil said he got the idea to start a festival in Lewis Park after speaking with Greg Rinaldi, owner of Superior Seal and Paving, who said he would be willing to sponsor fireworks for the event. Brazill said his brother J Brazill, who is in the local band “I am Fool,” offered to help bring in a lineup of local musicians to perform throughout the day.
Since the event’s inception, Brazill said the community has given positive feedback, which has kept the festival growing.
“They all told me they loved it. There are things to do here that everyone in the family can enjoy,” said Brazill. “We really couldn’t do it without the support of the community and the sponsorships from local businesses.”
