Police investigating attempted burglary, room break-in at Lincklaen House

Cazenovia police officers are investigating an attempted burglary and room break-in that occurred at The Lincklaen House on Sept. 22.

According to police reports, two males were inside The Lincklaen House lobby at around 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20. One male stood guard while the other jumped over the front desk and attempted to steal cash from the drawer, which was locked. During the attempt, the perpetrator broke the top half of the door to the front desk area.

A hotel employee noticed the attempted robbery at around 1:30 a.m. and also that several room keys were missing. A second-floor room occupant later complained that two unknown males knocked on the room door and tried to enter, but the door was double-locked from the inside. The room occupant then saw the two males run down the hall; they left the key in the room door.

Police were informed early the next morning of the attempted crimes. The Lincklaen House owner said he wants the suspects arrested and charged when they are apprehended.
