At its Nov. 21 meeting Town Clerk Janet Aaron reminded everyone that the town transfer station will be closed on Thanksgiving and the day after – Nov. 28 and 29. It will return to normal hours of operation on Saturday, Nov. 30, she said.
In other business:
—The town to moved to re-advertise for the town attorney position in the Skaneateles Press. The idea came courtesy of Town Supervisor-elect Mary Sennett, Councilor Jim Greenfield said. A second ad will be placed to make sure that no capable candidates missed the first call, he said.
The board has been without an official legal counsel since Pat Sardino resigned from that post in August.
—Councilor Nancy Murray said that she wants to look into the effectiveness of the Central New York SPCA Cruelty Investigation Team. The town has a contract with the department and pays them $700 a year, but Town Animal Control Officer Matt Olszewski has reported that they don’t take calls from concerned residents. The CNYSPCA website states that the department investigates any claims of animal abuse, violence or neglect. They can be contacted by calling 454-3469.
For all other animal control needs the town contracts with the Auburn-based Finger Lakes SCPCA.
