By a single point, Baldwinsville’s girls indoor track and field team missed moving up to the runner-up spot in Thursday night’s CNY Counties League National division championship meet at SRC Arena.

Instead, the Bees’ total of 98 points left it just behind Cicero-North Syracuse (99 points), both of them chasing Liverpool, who prevailed with 169 points. Often, it was because the Warriors would beat B’ville head-to-head in several close contests.

In the 4×400 relay, B’ville beat the field as Cierra Allen, Kailah Scott, Angelica Tomasello and Sarah Klaben posted a time of 4:18.07, beating Liverpool (4:22.76) by more than four seconds.

B’ville’s other victory came in the high jump, where Emily Soeder cleared 5 feet, but did so with fewer misses than Liverpool’s Tammy Brodie to prevail. Soeder was sixth in the triple jump (31’ 8 ½”).

Stephanie Vasteno dropped a close decision in the 55-meter dash, 7.66 seconds to Liverpool’s Jazmine Herbert (7.63 seconds), while Klaben was fifth in 7.87 seconds. In the 300-meter dash, Klaben, in 42.93 seconds, was second to Akinpelu (41.91 seconds) as Tomasello (43.78 seconds) got third place.

Mackenzie Ross also had a close call in the 600-meter run, finishing in 1:44.81, inches behind the Warriors’ Ore Akinpelu (1:44.64) as Katie Wicks got third place in 1:46.81.

Ross, Marissa Lathrop, Kelley Hull and Meghan Hull were second in the 4×800 relay in 10:23.46, where West Genesee (10:16.19) prevailed. Vasteno teamed with Sydney Mangano, Elise Seifritz and Cierra Allen as B’ville was second (1:53.37), again to Liverpool (1:51.36), in the 4×200 relay.

Kelley Hull took third in the 1,000-meter run in 3:21.11, with Meghan Hull (3:22.60) in fifth place. Mia Bolton got fourth place in the 1,500-meter run (5:16.31).

Lauren Fisher was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 7 feet. while Melissa Voyer had a fifth-place long jump of 14’6 ½”. Lathrop was fifth in the 3,000-meter run (11:20.06), where Maizy Ludden was sixth, while Hannah Wood got sixth place in the 55-meter hurdles.
