The Jewish Cultural & Music Festival celebrated its 13th, Bar Mitzvah, year Sunday, with great music and incredible food — all to the tune of clear skies.
The festival, organized for the 13th year by Sid Lipton and Mimi Weiner, featured performances by Zetz!, Farah, West of Odessa, Keyna Hora Klezmer Band, Jonathan Dinkin and Klezmercuse and Cantor Francine Berg. Internationally known The Afro-Semitic Experience headlined, and was joined on stage by the Syracuse Chapter of the Gospel Workshop of Syracuse.
Attendees took part in Central New York’s largest Hora Circle dance at 3 p.m. They also got to choose from a great selection of Kosher Jewish foods, including brisket, corned beef, knishes, hot dogs and, for the first time, kosher beer.
The popular Rabbis’ Corner highlighted topics about the upcoming Jewish New Year. An eclectic array of artisans, as well as Jewish organization and synagogues, set up tents throughout the festival grounds. New this year was a GaGa Pit for the kids and a Klezmer Kabaret puppet show presented by Robert Rogers of Binghamton.
