Skaneateles Village Police Officer Dave Wawro will receive a commendation for his work on two investigations he recently concluded, Police Chief Lloyd Perkins told the village board at its June 14 meeting.
Wawro worked a prescription forgery case that occurred at Tops and a felony assault case at the Bluewater Grill, in which one party was attacked and cut by glass.
“Officer Wawro put a lot of time and work into both cases,” Perkins said.
Perkins also told the board there has been a recent “rash” of vehicle larcenies and burglaries in the village in which items have been stolen from inside parked automobiles.
Auburn, Syracuse and other Central New York communities are also currently experiencing the same thing, and this is “not the first time” it has happened in Skaneateles, Perkins said.
The village police department urges all residents to lock their parked cars, especially at night, and to keep nothing in the car in plain sight. Anyone missing items from their car should contact the village police or the New York State Police Elbridge barracks.
