It will be hard to claim boredom this Saturday in Baldwinsville as there are numerous activities taking place throughout the community.
Children will love learning about the farming community while partaking in Lysander Parks and Recreation Department’s Farm Fest, which features four Lysander farms that the public are welcome to visit and learn more about. The event is held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Abbott Farms, Bella Via Farms, Smoke Tree Farms and Stillwater Farms.
History buffs can test their skills during the Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse’s History Trail, which is an element of Lysander’s Farm Fest. Held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., it will be an historical scavenger hunt through the village. An exhibit featuring Baldwinsville’s Specialty Heritage Farming, Peonies and Tobacco, will also be on display.
Are sports your thing? Check out the Celebrity Carp Tournament and meet this year’s Wild Carp Week contestants who hail from all over the world during the kick off of Wild Carp Week held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mercer Park.
Later in the evening, adults can enjoy the Taste of Baldwinsville beginning held from 6 to 10 p.m. at the CNY Family Sports Center. For $30, participants can sample specialties from 19 different restaurants and food vendors, as well as a variety of Anheuser Busch products and wines provided by Swedish Hill Winery. People may purchase tickets at the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center, 44 Oswego St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through this Friday, by calling the center at 638-0251 or by credit card purchase through the center’s website at bvillevolunteers.org.
And, if you’re feeling really fired up, take in all the events – then spend Sunday getting some good R&R.
