Steve Morgan has been appointed as the county’s new Chief Fiscal Officer, Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney announced today. Morgan will begin his new position June 18.
Morgan has worked in the county for the last 18 years and has served as the Executive Deputy Commissioner of Social Services for the past nine years. During this time, he managed the overall administration of the department, with a focus on fiscal policy and preparing and maintaining the department’s budget.
“We are thrilled that there were so many people in county government who were qualified for this role,” said Mahoney in a press release. “I have full confidence that Steve Morgan will make an excellent CFO. He has a strong background in county government, he is smart and he has been very innovative during his time as Executive Deputy Commissioner of Social Services. I am happy he accepted the offer to be on my team.”
Before working as Deputy Commissioner, Morgan worked as an accounting supervisor in the Department of Social Services for four years. He also worked in the Comptroller’s Office as an auditor, and received his Bachelor’s degree from Le Moyne College.
