The Jordan-Elbridge $27.2 million budget was passed by voters Tuesday, with 422 voting yes and 268 against. The budget will bring a 1.2 percent tax levy increase.
Paul Fried was also elected to the board of education with 468 votes. Fried will join as three members step down. Last year, voters agreed to move the board of education from nine members to seven.
The bus proposition to purchase three new full-size buses and three smaller buses was also approved.
The district voters also voted yes to re-establishing a reserve fund for buses, and supported both the Elbridge and Jordan library’s requests for a $4,000 increase.
“Thank you to all those members of our community who recognized the importance of coming out to vote today,” said Superintendent James Froio in a release. “At a time when many districts around the state have been forced to make difficult cuts, we feel fortunate we could offer a budget that expands academic programs and staffing. With the community’s approval, we now can continue the critical work of preparing our students for future success.”
