More than 35 animals were taken from a DeWitt home after police charged the homeowner with selling narcotics near Jamesville-DeWitt High School.
Edith Crofoot, 69, of Hobson Avenue, has been charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Police say neighbors called police after seeing an unusual amount of traffic in the area. Due to the home’s proximity to Jamesville-DeWitt High School, police acted quickly, said Sgt. Scott Kapral.
DeWitt Police executed a search warrant on the home April 9. Police allege she was selling powerful prescriptions narcotics to young adults, including morphine and Opana.
About 35 cats and four dogs were also taken from the home, which was condemned by DeWitt code enforcement officers.
Crofoot was arraigned and remanded to the Onondaga County Justice Center in lieu of $10,000 cash or bond.
