The inaugural Empire State Marathon will come through Baldwinsville this Sunday, Oct. 16.
In an effort to support the event and participants, the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce will have bleachers set up in Baldwinsville’s Village Square, which is the site of the former Harrington firehouse. The bleachers will allow spectators a place to watch and cheer on participants as they travel through the village running along the Sergei Yevich trail.
“The first runners should be coming through around 8:30 in the morning,” said Anthony Saraceni, president of the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce.
Runners will head west on Route 370 picking up the Sergei Yevich Trail at its east entrance. They will then circle around (near Sammy Malone’s, which will be open and serving refreshments) and head east along Route 31 through the village. It will be an impressive site as this large group of runners travel through town.
“The chamber urges residents to cheer on the approximately 2200 runners coming through our community this Sunday,” Saraceni said.
