Though the Skaneateles girls tennis team found its way into the Section III Class B tournament, it did not stay there for long.
The Lakers visited Oneida Monday afternoon, where the Indians, backed up by strong play on the doubles side, prevailed by a score of 6-1.
It was Makenzi Herbst that put Skaneateles on the board, roaring to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Marianthi Doucus in first singles. Katelyn Ellison, close in both sets, lost to Shannon Hollenbeck 6-4, 7-5, while Alaina Davis fell to Jenna Didio 6-1, 6-0.
Moving to doubles, Elizabeth Belinski and Angela Krause pushed Emily Lanz and Destiny Pagan hard in a 7-6, 7-5 defeat, the closest of the four matches.
Emily Call and Grace Magee lost to Julie Sarensky and Rachel Markle 7-5, 6-1, while Olivia Gage and Avery Bird had a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Jillian Braddock and Kasia Kinsella. Kathryn Magee and Katharina Kulik ran into Connie Froass and Paige Pendleton in a 6-0, 6-3 defeat.
