Just a handful of shots separated the Baldwinsville boys golf team from a sweep of all three CNY Counties League matches in the closing days of September.
The Bees made a short trip to Liverpool Friday afternoon, and despite getting the top individual score from Brendan Polsin, still lost to the Warriors 206-209.
Polsin covered nine holes at Liverpool Country Club in 37 shots, one ahead of Liverpool’s David Piscarino as they were the only players to break 40.
But the Warriors countered that with three players – Aaron Malay (41), Andrew VanMarter and Karl Deuble (42 each) – finishing ahead of a quartet of B’ville finishers. Christian Nizaimis, Josh Pinard, Tim Rothenhoefer and Sean Barron all landed at a total of 43.
To start the week, the Bees improved to 6-3 last Tuesday by beating the combined Syracuse city squad in a 206-232 decision.
On the home course at Radisson Greens, Pinard and Paul Pitcher both shot 40, beating Nizaimis, who managed a 41. Rothenhoefer finished with a 42 as Barron, with a 43, rounded out the scoring column. Tyler Sniffen shot 43 to lead the Syracuse side.
And while it did rain for Thursday’s match at Oswego, B’ville still did enough to register a 194-198 victory over the Buccaneers to improve its mark to 9-3.
Polsin, in particular, played well at Oswego Country Club, posting a 33, one ahead of Oswego’s Lucas Boshart and four better than Dylan Morgia. Nizaimis contributed a 39, while Matt Monaco shot a 40. Rothenhoefer manageda 41, two shots better than Dan Strodel.
