While waiting until Oct. 17 for another shot at Oswego, the Baldwinsville boys volleyball team proceeded to dismiss other CNY Counties League rivals.
That included Cicero-North Syracuse, whom the Bees beat for the second time this season in last Monday night’s three-set sweep. After a 25-13 rout in the opening set, B’ville fought through the second set and pulled it out, 26-24, before taking the third set 25-20.
Ryan Shelton had 17 assists, his passes often going to Ryan Zbikowski, who managed 12 kills. Shawn Calnan added six kills, with Grady Schmidt getting five kills and Kevin Drain four blocks. ON the defensive side, Jordan Hughes earned seven digs.
On Wednesday night, B’ville handled Central Square, winning the first two sets 25-19 and 25-20 and blasting through the Red Hawks 25-9 in the third set.
Zbikowski again led the front line, this time with nine kills. Kevin Drain had seven kills, with Anthony DiMarco adding five kills and three aces. Shelton picked up 17 assists as Chris Drain, with seven assists, helped out.
B’ville’s girls volleyball team smashed past Henninger 25-5, 25-4, 25-7 in last Tuesday night’s league encounter. Shannon Albright, with 17 assists and five aces, and Maureen Thayer, with 11 assists, worked on the back line.
Madison Whitney, Paulina Rein and Lexi Lagoy each had five kills, with Rein adding six aces and four digs. Amanda Chajkowski served up 10 aces. Megan Andre added three aces.
Then the Bees mauled Rome Free Academy, getting a 25-0 shutout in the first set and winning the ensuing sets 25-4 and 25-3. Thayer had 10 aces to go with 15 assists, while Lagoy managed eight aces with her three kills. Shannon Albright had five aces, with Sarah Klaben and Madison Whitney each getting five kills.
