With newfound momentum following its Sept. 22 win over Rome Free Academy, the Baldwinsville field hockey team started to build a win streak in non-league play.
The Bees went to Cato-Meridian last Tuesday afternoon and put together a 2-0 shutout of the Blue Devils. Throughout the first half, Cato goalie Cassandra Greene turned B’ville’s shots away, as she would finish with 18 saves.
However, in the second half the Bees broke through. Kayla Dubiel and Serena Capsello earned the goals, with Taylor Gebhardt adding an assist. Thanks to Lindsay Farrell’s 10 saves, the Bees kept the Blue Devils off the board.
This was the first of three consecutive road games for the Bees, who, after a week to rest and practice, will return to CNY Counties League play next Tuesday at Auburn before a key Thursday match at Fayetteville-Manlius.
