Each of the area’s three high school girls swim teams hit the pool for league competition Tuesday night, and each of them won with relative ease.
Christian Brothers Academy went to Mexico and improved to 4-0, beating the Tigers 90-75 behind a trio of double winners. Summer Schmitt broke the two-minute mark in the 200 freestyle (1:58.76) and took the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.66.
Maggie Fletcher swam the 50 freestyle in 25.62 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 1:03.84, while Kathryn Coughlin won the 200 individual medley (2:18.02) and added a 500 freestyle win in 5:35.27. Kelly Bewley had 158.9 points in diving, with Lexy McCauley first in the 100 backstroke in 1:10.17.
Coughlin, Fletcher, Honor Bowman and Kendall Sangster combined to take the 200 medley relay in 2:01 flat, with McCauley and Schmitt joining Coughlin and Fletcher to tear through the 200 freestyle relay in 1:46.66. In the 400 freestyle relay, Schmitt, McCauley, Sangster and Courtney Finkbeiner finished in 4:05.93.
Jamesville-DeWitt improved to 2-1 by claiming all but three of the individual events, and adding a pair of relay titles, when it went to Skaneateles and beat the Lakers 95-87.
The Red Rams’ Kalie Coyne handled the 100 butterfly in 1:01.56 and 200 IM in 2:17.59, while teammate Molly Hair got wins in the 200 freestyle (2:06.45) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.91). Sophia Farchione followed up a win in the 100 freestyle (1:00.04) by swimming to first place in the 100 backstroke in a swift 1:05.85.
J-D got the meet started with Farchione, Hair, Amanda Behan and Maria Skandalis getting the win in the 200 medley relay in 2:05.53. Behan returned to help Kalie Coyne, Alden Coyne and Lauren Crosby post a time of 1:50.85 in the 200 freestyle relay.
As this went on, Fayetteville-Manlius, mired at 0-3, finally got its first win of the season by topping the combined Syracuse city team 103-83 at the Nottingham pool.
Katie Pechacek got the Hornets rolling when she won the 200 freestyle (2:06.50), later getting through the 100 freestyle in 58.20 seconds. Grace Garver also won twice, in the 200 IM (2:37.97) and 100 butterfly (1:10.95), with Julie Barger taking the 500 freestyle (5:48.69) and Caroline Wilson winning the 50 freestyle in 27.46 seconds.
F-M also won two of the three relays. Wilson, Pechacek, Morgan Way and Caroline Mortelliti claimed the 200 freestyle relay (1:54.72) before Barger, joining Way, Pechacek and Mortelliti, earned a victory in the 400 freestyle relay in 4:10.90.
