For the sixth year in a row, Waterman Elementary School Principal Marianne Young got wrapped in wrapping paper in front of the entire school to help kick off the Parent Teacher Committee’s annual gift wrap sale and fundraiser.
“It’s fun because the kids enjoy it, and if it helps the PTC sell wrapping paper I’m happy to do it,” Young said.
From Sept. 23 to Oct. 14, elementary students will be selling wrapping paper and other gifts from Innisbrook with the usual take-home order forms. But orders also may be made online at Innisbrook.com: click on the “Friends and Family” link, and enter school code: 103874, teacher code: PTC.
According to the PTC, Innisbrook uses mostly recycled paper with environmentally friendly inks, and its products are made in the USA.
PTC member Trish Gutchess, who came to Waterman on Sept 23 to help promote the fundraiser and wrap up Principal Young, said last year the PTC raised $10,000 and this year the goal is $12,000. Since the PTC keeps 50 percent of all sale proceeds, that means the kids must sell $24,000 worth of gifts and wrapping paper this year.
Gutchess told the assembled students that the top three individual sellers all will receive a $25 gift certificate from the Skaneateles Chamber of Commerce, which can be use din most downtown stores. The class with the most sales will get an ice cream party.
