Two relay titles proved the main highlights for the Cazenovia girls swim team during last Thursday night’s season-opening 100-73 defeat to Skaneateles.
Though the other group of Lakers won most of the individual races at the Skaneateles Community Center pool, Cazenovia broke out in the 200 freestyle relay, where Paige Nardella, Emma Groff, Emily Corey and Sophia Catania prevailed in a time of 2:03.49.
On her own, Nardella would beat the field in the 100 freestyle, prevailing in 1:05.30. And in the closing 400 freestyle relay, Catania, Groff, Skyler Adolfi and Courtney Banac would swim to a top time of 4:38.02. Rachel DeWitt led Skaneateles with titles in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Cazenovia meets Mexico on Wednesday in its first home meet of the season. All home meets take place at the Cazenovia College pool.
