The Jordan-Elbridge Winterguard will jump-start another busy season on Saturday Jan. 15 at Cicero-North Syracuse Junior High School. The group will spin flags, rifles, sabers and dance to Avril Lavigne’s “Keep Holding On.”
This year’s program is titled “Hope,” and goes out to all those affected by a disease or illness, whether it be through a friend, family member, or whether they have battled it themselves, said group spokesperson Mary Jo Wick.
The colorguard will perform at home on Feb. 5., with additional performances lined up in Phoenix, Liverpool, ESM, Central Square and Vestal. With 19 members ranging from seventh to twelfth grade, the colorguard is led onto the floor by senior captains Alexis Garrett and Justin Herne.
The J-E Winterguard program was established in 2004. Kristen Crowley and Delores Hynes, two of this year’s colorguard instructors, are alumni of Jordan-Elbridge and of the winterguard program and are very passionate about the keeping the program alive and growing, Wick said. Crowley and Hynes will be assisted by Jessica Czachowski.
