Van Buren officials awarded Solvay Iron the bid to manufacture and deliver 86 feet of American Disabilities Association (ADA) approved handrails for a ramp at the Van Buren Park office at a cost of $3,375. This was the lowest bid received from three firms. The Van Buren Highway Department recently installed the ramp, and will install the handrail once it is delivered.
Officials also awarded BR Johnson Inc. the bid to manufacture, deliver and install an ADA door at the park office at a cost of $1,420. This was the lowest bid received from two firms. The third firm contacted by the town did not submit a bid.
The projects are paid for through a $50,000 grant received by the town, which also paid for an emergency generator for the town.
