Free Backstage Tours, Free Performances of the Annual Children’s Show, Ticket Raffles & Complimentary Refreshments
Syracuse Stage is pleased to announce plans for a 2010 Open House, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 2.
Festivities will include guided Backstage Tours, free performances of the annual Bank of America Children’s Show Annabel Drudge and the Second Day of School (an original work by Stage’s Director of Educational Outreach Lauren Unbekant), hourly ticket raffles, a look at SU’s Department of Drama, and complimentary refreshments. Free food will include locally grown apples and refreshments from Byrne Dairy, Cabot Cheese, Franco’s Pizzeria and Deli, The Speach Family Candy Shoppe, and Terrell’s Chips. All events will be free and open to the public.
Later the same day, performances of Syracuse Stage’s “No Child ” will take place at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Storch Theatre, and a performance of SU Drama’s “Cabaret” will take place at 8 p.m. in the Archbold Theatre. Show tickets are available at 315.443.3275 or www.SyracuseStage.org.
Last year’s Open House event attracted over 400 visitors, including longtime subscribers and many new faces.
“Last year’s event was a great opportunity to share with our audience and the community what goes on behind the scenes at Syracuse Stage,” said Producing Artistic Director Timothy Bond. “This year’s event, in particular the public premiere of Annabel Drudge , promises a great day for families and friends to come together, relax, be entertained, and most of all have fun!”
All events during Stage’s 2010 Open House will be appropriate for families. Annabel Drudge and the Second Day of School is appropriate for all ages.
Below, a rundown of events for Syracuse Stage’s 2010 Open House on Saturday, October 2:
10 a.m. Lobby Opens (10 a.m. — 2 p.m.)
Complimentary refreshments, activities for children, art/photography exhibit. Syracuse Stage, 820 East Genesee Street.
10:00 a.m. Backstage Tours (45 minutes)
See where the magic happens! A guided tour of backstage areas – scene shop, costume shop, props shop & rehearsal halls. Tours will run every 10 minutes as needed. To join a tour, gather in the Archbold Theatre at Syracuse Stage.
11 a.m. Free performance of “Annabel Drudge and the Second Day of School,” the Bank of America Children’s Tour
(45 minutes)
A midnight journey to Istanbul and a pair of magical slippers might be just what Annabel needs to overcome a very bad first day at her new school. Performed in striking visual terms, warm-hearted and funny. Recommended for all ages. Location TBD.
