Van Buren officials have approved a $500 donation to the Barge into Baldwinsville committee, which will commemorate the 100th anniversary of NYS Canal Lock 24 throughout this summer. The funds will help cover costs for displays throughout village landmarks including Village Commons, the library and the Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse, as well as placement of a plaque at the lock. Sykes said the lock has contributed to the economy over the years and it is nice to celebrate it.
