It did not impress the Baldwinsville ice hockey team all that much that Oswego arrived at Lysander Arena Tuesday night with the no. 8 state Division I ranking and a 4-1-1 record.
From the time the puck dropped, the Bees unleashed a physical approach that, by game’s end, would leave the Buccaneers dazed — and leave B’ville triumphant, too, in a 3-0 shutout.
Oswego did have a fair share of chances to get on the board throughout the game. But Brett Earle, Connor Bertrand and the rest of the Bees’ defenders blocked shots and pushed Oswego away, while Mark Miller stopped all 24 shots he faced.
B’ville’s attack remained modest, but a single goal in each period was enough. Dan Briggs, Parker Ferrigan and Justin Newman each scored, with John Waldon and Andrew Tiner earning assists.
The Bees would play Monday at Ithaca in a league game as part of a two-day tournament that would also include a game against Rochester Aquinas or Greene.
