Both of Baldwinsville’s basketball teams met with various amounts of frustration during Friday night’s set of games against Utica Proctor.
On the girls end, the Bees saw a three-game win streak snapped with a 47-44 defeat to the Raiders.
Proctor, at 2-3 on the season, is trying to hang in there through the regular season as its star guard, Brianna Kiesel, heals a broken wrist suffered earlier this month. She hopes to come back before the season ends.
B’ville took advantage of this at first, seizing a 13-9 lead in the first quarter. But in the second period, the Bees slumped, held to four points, as Proctor went in front.
Throughout the second half, B’ville made a series of runs, but Proctor kept answering behind Kierra Arthur’s 17 points and Sarina Olds’ 15 rebounds.
In defeat, the Bees had Claire Monnat put up 17 points, while Maggie Monnat got nine points. Lauren McVey had seven points and Carly Gummer earned six points.
Meanwhile, the B’ville boys basketball team had difficulty establishing any kind of offense at Utica Proctor, taking a 62-34 loss to the Raiders.
The Bees’ first field goal did not come until the second quarter, as it got just a single free throw in the opening period. Proctor bolted to a 14-1 lead, extended the margin to 29-7 by halftime and never got caught.
Kevin Roy, with seven points, and Nick Riley, with seven points, were B’ville’s top scorers. Walkery Mills, with 12 points, was one of 11 Proctor players to get a field goal.
The boys Bees are off until the Dec. 28-29 Vince Celi Memorial Tournament at East Syracuse-Minoa. B’ville’s girls host Fayetteville-Manlius on Tuesday before also going to ESM for the Celi tournament.
